Drovers Dominate OPSU in Regular Season Finale

GOODWELL, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (19-9, 14-8 SAC) finished the regular season strong with a 72-51 win on the road at Oklahoma Panhandle State University (6-22, 3-19 SAC).

 

The Drovers opened the game on an impressive 19-1 run, prior to holding a 21-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter. However, the Aggies flipped the script in the second quarter, outscoring USAO 19-16, trimming the Drovers advantage to 37-24 at the break.

Following halftime, the Drovers looked reenergized as they dominated the third quarter 22-8 and held a 59-32 lead going into the fourth. OPSU finished strong, outscoring USAO 19-13 in the final 10 minutes of the game, but it was nowhere near enough to overcome their large deficit.

 

USAO's offense closed the game shooting 24-73 (.329) from the field, 5-24 (.208) from beyond the arc, and 19-24 (.792) from the free-throw line. In comparison, OPSU shot only 19-61(.311) from the field, 5-21 (.238) from deep, and 8-12 (.667) from the charity stripe.

The Drovers scored 28 points in the paint and hauled in 54 rebounds. In comparison, the Aggies scored 20 points in the paint and grabbed 37 rebounds.

USAO committed 12 turnovers, resulting in nine points for OPSU, while the Aggies fumbled the ball 13 times, leading to 10 points for the Drovers. USAO was whistled for 12 fouls, while Aggies were called for 15 violations.

 

Evangelia Davlakou led the Drover offense with 23 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals.

Nyapar Mathot and Trinity Humphrey each contributed a dozen points in the win. Mathot recorded her sixth double-double of the season as she grabbed 11 rebounds, while Humphrey hauled in seven boards.

Jordyn Rollins concluded with nine points and eight rebounds.

Ti'Alone Banks and Mattie Rich each scored five points in the win. Banks also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out a pair of assists. Chaniya Felton added four points, trailed by Mya Brown with two points.

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers now head to Oklahoma City for the start of the postseason and will be the No. 5 seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament. USAO will face No. 4 seed College of the Ozarks on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 2:00 PM CT inside Abe Lemons Arena.
