USAO’s Home Win Streak Snapped as Rally Comes up Short Against Tabor

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Thursday night, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (2-1-2, 0-0 SAC) suffered their first loss of the season in a 2-1 performance against Tabor College (2-0, 0-0 KCAC). The defeat also snaps USAO's home win streak, which dated back to Oct. 14, 2023 (8-0-3 record).
The Bluejays and Drovers have plenty of recent history, with USAO holding an 11-4-1 advantage in the all-time series, dating to Sept. 19, 1998.
Despite dominating the time of possession in the opening 45 minutes, the Drovers fell behind early, as the Bluejays capitalized on a defensive miscue in the 11th minute. USAO was unable to strike for the equalizer and Tabor took a one-goal lead into the break.
Following halftime, the Drovers continued to be the aggressors, but the Bluejays once again made USAO pay for a rare defensive mistake, pulling ahead 2-0 in the 51st minute.
Down but not out, the Drovers cut the deficit in half as Thiago Fasano scored his second goal of the season off a tremendous assist from Richard Ebongue Bollanga.
Despite numerous scoring chances in the in the final minutes, USAO was unable to strike for the equalizer, thus suffering their first loss at McLaughlin Field in nearly two years.
As a team, USAO attempted 19 shots, with five being on goal, while Tabor attempted 12 shots, five of which were on target. The Bluejays were whistled for five fouls, while the Drovers committed 11 infractions. USAO attempted nine corner kicks, while Tabor had just one attempt out of their offensive corners.
Angel Diaz got the start between the pipes for USAO and stopped three of the five shots he faced.

The Drovers will now return to action at McLaughlin Field on Saturday, Sept. 6 as they host Bethel College (Kan.). Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM CT.
