Offense Goes Cold as USAO Falls to JBU
CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (9-15, 7-13 SAC) struggled offensively and suffered a 60-48 loss against John Brown University (16-8, 14-6 SAC).
With four games remaining in the regular season, the Drovers sit in 10th place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings. The top eight teams in the conference qualify for the conference tournament, and the top four seeded teams will host the first round, prior to the tournament being moved to Langston University for the semifinals and finals.
On Saturday, USAO got off to a slow start and trailed 31-22 at the end of the first half.
Following the break, the Golden Eagles offense began to heat up and started to gain separation, leading by as many as 15 midway through the second half. JBU held off USAO in the final minutes to secure the win.
USAO's offense closed the game shooting just 19-62 (.306) from the field, 5-24 (.208) from beyond the arc, and 5-9 (.556) from the free-throw line. In comparison, John Brown shot 22-61 (.361) from the field, 12-36 (.333) from deep, and 4-7 (.571) from the charity stripe.
The Drovers scored 22 points in the paint and hauled in 32 rebounds. In comparison, the Golden Eagles scored 18 points in the paint and grabbed 53 rebounds.
USAO committed seven turnovers, which led to 12 points for JBU. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles fumbled the ball 17 times, resulting in 19 points for the Drovers.
USAO was whistled for 10 fouls, while JBU was called for 11 violations.
USAO's offense was led by a trio of double-digit scoring performances. Ryein Kennedy concluded with 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. Tyler Cauley contributed 11 points and four rebounds, followed by Tre Edwards with 10 points off the bench.
Mohand Ammad finished with seven points, 10 rebounds, and a pair of blocks. Lendy Holmes scored four points and Cade Allen scored three. Jaden Harrell hauled in five rebounds and dished out five assists.

The Drovers will return to Brisco McPherson court for Senior Night on Saturday, February 13 as they host a double-header against Mid-America Christian University. The women's game is scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 PM CT, followed by the men's game at 7:45 PM CT inside Drover Fieldhouse.
