Quezada Drops 28 as Drovers Shine in Dallas

DALLAS, Texas – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (6-2, 1-1 SAC) got back on track with an 84-69 victory against University of North Texas Dallas (2-3, 1-1 SAC). With the win, the Drovers improve to 4-1 against the Trailblazers all-time, dating back to 2021.

 

After UNTD opened the game on a 5-0 run the Drovers fought back and held a 19-14 lead midway through the first half. USAO continued to stretch their lead in the final minutes of the half and took a 38-28 lead into the break.

 

Following halftime, the teams traded baskets for the opening 10 minutes of the half and USAO maintained a 10-point lead (56-46). The Drovers continued to score at a high percentage late in the game and extended their lead to 15 by the end of regulation.

 

The USAO offense was very efficient and finished the game shooting 28-54 (.519) from the field, 10-22 (.455) from beyond the arc, and 18-25 (.720) from the free-throw line. In comparison, UNTD shot 24-64 (.375) from the field, 3-17 (.176) from deep, and 18-22 (.818) from the charity stripe. 

USAO held a 37-31 advantage in the rebounding battle, but the Trailblazers outscored the Drovers in the paint 34-26.

The Drovers were whistled for 17 fouls, and the Trailblazers were called for 20 infractions. USAO committed 13 turnovers, while UNTD only fumbled the ball nine times.

 

Reggie Quezada once again led the USAO offense with an incredibly efficient 28-point performance. Quezada shot 8-12 from the field, 4-6 from deep, and 8-10 at the charity stripe. The New Yorker also hauled in eight rebounds. This season, he is averaging 17.4 points per game on 57.6 percent shooting from the field, 45.2 percent from deep, and .769 percent from the free-throw line. 

Niieihii BlackBear continued to impress with 10 points on 5-7 shooting from the field, along with five rebounds and three blocks. Logan Dolan also concluded with 10 points in the win.

Zach Hays provided a huge spark off the bench and contributed nine points on 4-5 shooting from the field, and he also hauled in four rebounds in 18 minutes of action. Manny Gatkek concluded with eight points and five rebounds, followed by Cade Allen and Anthony Ray with six apiece. 

Jaden Harrell dished out a team-high of five assists, in addition to four points and four rebounds. Jaden Causwell scored three points and Tre Edwards dished out four assists. 

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

 The Drovers will return to the court on Saturday, December 9 as they play on the road at Southwestern Christian University. The women are scheduled to tip-off at 2:00 PM CT, followed by the men at 3:45 PM in Bethany, Okla.
