Drovers Collect Win No. 17 in Regular Season Finale at Southwestern Christian

BETHANY, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (16-14, 10-11 SAC) concluded the regular season with a 0-set victory on the road at Southwestern Christian University (15-12, 12-9 SAC). 


The Drovers used a good start to outlast the Eagles in the first set and claimed a 25-21 win. USAO stayed hot for the beginning of the second set and led 13-7 midway through. The Drovers claimed a commanding two-set lead by concluding the second set with a 25-10 triumph. The momentum continued for USAO in the third set, wrapping up the sweep with a 25-14 win.

 

As a team, the Drover offense produced an amazing .364 attack percentage with 48 kills, while the Eagles recorded a .070 attack percentage and 28 kills. USAO's setters dished out a total of 43 assists, meanwhile the defense produced 56 digs and 9.0 total blocks. SCU produced 25 assists, 44 digs, and 1.0 total block. The Drovers tallied three aces, while the Eagles had four.

 

Jaliyah Cox led the Drovers with an impressive offensive performance, finishing with 14 kills on a stellar .583 attack percentage. Cox also contributed three block assists.

Victoria Wright produced 11 kills on a .333 attack percentage, while Chloe Conover put away 10 kills at a clip of .381. Conover was involved in four blocks. Jayla Blake concluded with seven kills (.353) and a season-high of six block assists.

Ytzel Garcia distributed 39 assists, in addition to five digs and an ace. 

Brynlee Birney anchored USAO's defense with 13 digs, followed by Bailey Makahununiu with 11.

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The No. 8 seed Drovers now head into the postseason and will begin the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at No. 1 Nelson University in Waxahachie, Texas.
