Drovers Go Down in Three Against WBU
CHICKASHA, Okla. – Friday evening, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (16-13, 10-10 SAC) suffered a tough three-set loss on Senior Day against Wayland Baptist University (14-10, 13-7 SAC).
The Drovers slide to seventh in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings with two matches remaining in the regular season. The Drovers have already qualified for their fifth consecutive SAC Tournament appearance, which will begin on Nov. 11.
Wayland used a hot start to claim a 25-19 win in the opening set, followed by a 25-20 victory in the second set. The Pioneers closed out the match with a 25-12 performance.
As a team, the Drover offense produced a .073 attack percentage with 29 kills, while the Pioneers recorded a .339 attack percentage and 48 kills. USAO's setters dished out a total of 26 assists, meanwhile the defense produced 55 digs and 3.0 total blocks. WBU produced 46 assists, 53 digs, and 3.0 total blocks. The Drovers tallied six aces, while the Pioneers had three.
Jaliyah Cox led the Drover offense with 10 kills, in addition to four digs. Chloe Conover and Samantha Perez each produced five kills.
Ytzel Garcia distributed 24 assists, in addition to five digs, two kills, and an ace.
Brynlee Birney anchored USAO's defense with 18 digs, trailed by Alacia Ledoux with 14.

The Drovers will return to action on Friday, No. 7 as they travel to Oklahoma City University. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 PM CT inside Abe Lemons Arena.
