Offense Shines as Drovers SWEEP Southwestern Christian
CHICKASHA, Okla. – Friday night, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (9-6, 3-3 SAC) returned home and delivered a dominant three-set sweep against Southwestern Christian University (0-8, 0-5 SAC). With the win, the Drovers improve to 8-9 all-time against the Eagles, including a current streak of eight wins in a row since Oct. 28, 2021.
The Drovers jumped out to an early lead in the first set and never looked back as they cruised to a 25-12 win. SCU made things slightly more competitive in the second set, but USAO was able to close the set strong and claimed a 25-16 victory. SCU held a brief advantage early in the third frame, but the Drovers once again turned things around and wrapped up the match with another 25-12 triumph.
As a team, the Drover offense produced an incredible .337 attack percentage with 38 kills, while the Eagles recorded a .000 attack percentage and only 19 kills. USAO's setters dished out a total of 32 assists, meanwhile the defense produced 47 digs and 11.0 total blocks. SCU produced 18 assists, 41 digs, and 2.0 total blocks. Additionally, USAO recorded 10 service aces, while committing six service errors, in comparison to Southwestern Christian's six aces and seven errors.
The USAO offense was led by Jaliyah Cox's eight kill performance on a .333 attack percentage. Chloe Conover added seven kills and nine digs, in addition to a .263 attack percentage.
Samantha Perez and Giselle Calderon each finished with six terminations. Perez added three digs and three block assists, while Calderon contributed a .545 attack percentage and a pair of block assists. Morgan Kobe put away five kills on a staggering .833 attack percentage, in addition to two block assists.
Ytzel Garcia delivered a tremendous performance as the USAO setter, distributing 29 assists, in addition to six digs, five aces, and three kills on a .600 attack percentage.
Brynlee Birney anchored the Drover defense with 16 digs, along with three assists and three aces. Alacia Ledoux produced 10 digs on defense.

The Drovers will return to action tomorrow (Sept. 20) as they host Oklahoma City University. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 PM CT inside Drover Fieldhouse.
