#24 USAO Scores Four Second Half Goals to Shutout OPSU

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Tuesday evening the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (10-1-1, 3-1 SAC) earned their 10th win of the season with a 4-0 shutout victory against Oklahoma Panhandle State University (3-7, 1-3 SAC). The Drovers are now 6-0 against the Aggies all-time, dating back to October of 2019. Furthermore, USAO owns a perfect 6-0-1 record at home so far this season.

On Tuesday, the Drovers dominated possession of the ball in the first half but looked slightly slower than usual and neither team was able to score in the opening 45 minutes of play.

Following halftime, USAO looked re-energized and back to their usual form, scoring four goals in the opening 11 minutes of the second half. Ilse de Jong struck for the Drovers' first goal in the 47th minute, giving de Jong four goals this season. Dagbjort Gudmundsdottir then struck for her third goal of the season in the 48th minute, assisted by Ashlee Davison. Five minutes later, Mabel Cremers struck for her second goal of the season on a free-kick. The Drovers final goal came in the 56th minute as Davison scored her fourth goal of her freshman campaign.

As a team, USAO attempted 28 shots, with 10 being on goal, while OPSU attempted only one shot, which did go on target. Both teams were whistled for four fouls in the contest, and no yellow cards were issued to either team. USAO attempted nine corner kicks and OPSU had only one attempt out of the offensive corners.

Ashlyn Lonberg got the start between the pipes for USAO and was perfect once again, stopping the only shot she faced. The shutout is the third of the season for Lonberg. With the win, Lonberg owns an incredible career win-loss record to 18-2-1.
