USAO’s Offense Goes Cold at WBU
PLAINVIEW, Texas – Thursday night, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (18-9, 13-8 SAC) was dealt a tough 69-60 loss on the road at Wayland Baptist University (12-14, 11-10 SAC).
The Drovers trailed early on as the Flying Queens jumped out to a 7-2 advantage four minutes into the game. The struggles continued for USAO and trailed 15-7 at the end of the opening quarter. WBU opened the second quarter on an 11-2 run to stretch their lead to 26-9. At the end of 20 minutes, the Flying Queens possessed a 35-20 lead.
Following halftime, the Drovers began to play better and outscored the Flying Queens 18-13 in the third quarter and trailed 48-38 going into the fourth. USAO was able to pull within single digits in the fourth quarter but was unable to overcome the deficit in the end.
USAO's offense closed the game shooting 21-58 (.362) from the field, 3-18 (.167) from beyond the arc, and 15-22 (.682) from the free-throw line. In comparison, WBU shot 26-57 (.456) from the field, 6-24 (.250) from deep, and 11-17 (.647) from the charity stripe.
The Drovers scored 32 points in the paint and hauled in 29 rebounds. In comparison, the Flying Queens scored 32 points in the paint and grabbed 35 rebounds.
USAO committed 17 turnovers, resulting in 10 points for WBU, while the Flying Queens fumbled the ball 20 times, leading to 11 points for the Drovers. USAO was whistled for 19 fouls, while Flying Queens were called for 15 violations.
Ti'Alone Banks led the USAO offense with 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Mya Brown added 11 points, four rebounds, and five assists, while Nyapar Mathot closed with 11 points and six rebounds.
Chaniya Felton concluded with eight points, five rebounds, and four steals, trailed by Jordyn Rollins with seven points, five rebounds, and three assists. Evangelia Davlakou finished with six points, four rebounds, and three assists. Trinity Humphrey scored four points.

The Drovers will return to action and conclude the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 21 at OPSU. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM CT in Goodwell, Okla.
