Drovers Extend Win Streak to Five with Big Win Against OPSU

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Thursday night, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (12-2, 7-1 SAC) remained perfect at home and extended their win-streak to five with a dominant 79-43 triumph against Oklahoma Panhandle State University (3-11, 0-8 KCAC). With the win, the Drovers improve to 14-2 against the Aggies in head-to-head matchups since January 2018.

 

The Drovers led from start to finish and jumped out to a 30-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, USAO was held scoreless for the opening five and a half minutes of the second quarter. OPSU outscored USAO 11-8 in the second quarter, but the Drovers still controlled a comfortable 38-22 lead going into the second half. 

Following halftime, the Drovers were in full control, outscoring the Aggies 22-12 in the third quarter, followed by a 19-9 clip in the final 10 minutes of the game.

 

USAO's offense closed the game shooting 32-73 (.438) from the field, 3-18 (.167) from beyond the arc, and 12-15 (.800) from the free-throw line. In comparison, OPSU shot 16-63 (.254) from the field, 2-13 (.154) from deep, and 9-16 (.563) from the charity stripe. 

The Drovers scored 54 points in the paint and hauled in 51 rebounds. In comparison, the Aggies scored 18 points in the paint and grabbed 37 rebounds. 

USAO committed 14 turnovers, resulting in eight points for OPSU, while the Aggies fumbled the ball 21 times, leading to 28 points for the Drovers. USAO was whistled for 13 fouls, while OPSU was called for 18 violations.

 

Four different Drovers scored in double digits, led by Evangelia Davlakou with 18 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Pashonnay Johnson added 15 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Chaniya Felton contributed 15 points, four rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Hannah Harris concluded with her second double-double of the season with 10 points, 15 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. 

Trinity Humphrey scored seven points, trailed by Jordyn Rollins with six points. Ti'Alone Banks and Mya Brown each scored three points, followed by Nyapar Mathot with two points. 

It is the 11th time in 14 games that every Drover scored at least one point.

The Drovers will return to Brisco McPherson Court on Saturday, Jan. 10 as they host Wayland Baptist University. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM CT inside Drover Fieldhouse.
