Well Balanced Effort Leads to Dominant Victory Against Northern New Mexico
GOODWELL, Okla. – Friday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (2-0, 0-0 SAC) continued their impressive start to the season with a dominant 98-38 triumph on the road against Northern New Mexico College (0-2, 0-0 CALPAC).
The Drovers trailed 10-5 in the opening minutes but then used an 18-2 run to take a 23-12 advantage into the second quarter. USAO outscored NNMC 14-6 in the second quarter and the Drovers took a comfortable 37-18 lead into the break.
Following halftime, the USAO caught fire and outscored Norther New Mexico 35-13 to take a 41-point lead into the fourth quarter. The Drovers stayed hot in the fourth and added 26 more points, compared to 7 for the Eagles.
USAO's offense closed the game shooting 37-74 (.500) from the field, 11-22 (.500) from beyond the arc, and 13-16 (.813) from the free-throw line. In comparison, Northern New Mexico shot 16-73 (.219) from the field, 4-27 (.148) from deep, and 2-10 (.200) from the charity stripe.
The Drovers scored 38 points in the paint and hauled in 56 rebounds. In comparison, the Eagles scored 16 points in the paint and grabbed 42 rebounds.
USAO committed 14 turnovers, which led to four points for NNMC. Meanwhile, the Eagles fumbled the ball 20 times, resulting in 25 points for the Drovers.
USAO was whistled for 11 fouls, while NNMC was called for 16 violations.
For the second game in a row, USAO's offense was efficient, and the defense was smothering. The Drovers have shot 50-percent from the field, 50-percent from deep, and 70-percent from the free-throw line in both games so far, and they have held opponents to 30-percent, 21-percent, and 61-percent in those same categories. Furthermore, the Drovers have dominated the painted area, outrebounding opponents 104-74 and outscoring opponents in the paint 64-34.
The Drovers used a well-balanced attack to overwhelm the Eagles, with all nine players scoring five points or more. Leading the way was a pair of 18-point performances from Evangelia Davlakou and Pashonnay Johnson. Davlakou also hauled in seven rebounds and dished out four assists, while Johnson added four rebounds and a pair of helpers.
Hannah Harris recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds, along with three assists and a steal.
Mya Brown contributed 12 points, hauled in five rebounds, and stole the ball three times on defense.
Ti'Alone Banks added nine points, three assists, and a pair of blocks in 20 minutes off the bench. Nyapar Mathot finished with eight points, nine rebounds, and two steals, while Chaniya Dooly-Felton closed with eight points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Trinity Humphrey scored eight points on 4-8 shooting from the field.
Jordyn Rollins concluded with five points, three rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals.

The Drovers will return to action tomorrow morning (Nov. 8) in Goodwell, Okla. for a neutral site game against University of the Southwest at the No Man's Land Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT inside Anchor D. Arena.
