Drovers Suffer Defeat Against College of the Ozarks in Arkansas

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Thursday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (5-4, 3-2 SAC) was dealt a 53-38 loss in Arkansas against College of the Ozarks (5-4, 3-2 SAC). 

 

On Thursday, the Drovers got off to a tough start and trailed 8-2 midway through the opening quarter, however the Drovers closed on an 11-4 run and took a 13-12 lead into the second quarter. USAO outscored Ozarks 10-9 in the second quarter and took a slim 23-21 lead into halftime. 

 

Following the break, the score remained tight, with the Bobcats narrowly outscoring the Drovers 13-10 and held a 34-33 advantage going into the fourth quarter. Ozarks opened the fourth on an 8-0 run and proceeded to outscore USAO 19-5 in the final 10 minutes of action. 

 

Both offenses struggled in the low-scoring contest. USAO's offense closed the game shooting 15-56 (.268) from the field, 2-15 (.133) from beyond the arc, and 6-9 (.667) from the free-throw line. In comparison, College of the Ozarks shot 20-61 (.328) from the field, 6-28 (.214) from deep, and 7-9 (.778) from the charity stripe. 

The Drovers scored eight points in the paint and hauled in 39 rebounds. In comparison, the Bobcats scored 14 points in the paint and grabbed 44 rebounds. 

USAO committed 13 turnovers, which led to eight points for CofO. Meanwhile, the Bobcats fumbled the ball 12 times, resulting in six points for the Drovers.

Both teams were whistled for 10 fouls.

 

Evangelia Davlakou led the Drovers with 17 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Anna Kassim recorded seven points and six rebounds, followed by Hannah Harris with six points and six rebounds. 

 

 WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will return to action on Saturday, December 7 as they play a double-header at John Brown University. The women's game is scheduled to tip-off at 2:00 PM CT, followed by the men's contest at 3:45 PM CT inside Bill George Arena.
