Davlakou Scores 22 as USAO Takes Down UNT Dallas

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Tuesday night, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (5-2, 3-1 SAC) returned to the win column with a 62-52 victory against University of North Texas at Dallas (2-6, 1-5 SAC). With the win, the Drovers have won each of the last six meetings against the Trailblazers and improve to 6-1 overall against UNTD since November 2021.

 

On Tuesday, the Drovers led from start to finish as they captured their fifth win of the season. The teams traded baskets early and USAO held a slim 8-7 advantage midway through the opening quarter. The Drovers closed the quarter on a 9-5 run to take a 17-12 lead into the second quarter. 

The second quarter was much like the first, with USAO narrowly outscoring UNTD 16-12 and took a 33-24 lead into halftime.  

 

Following the break, both offenses started to score at a higher consistency, with USAO outscoring UNT Dallas 18-16 in the third quarter, and the Drovers owned a 51-40 lead going into the final 10 minutes of action. 

USAO got off to a good start in the fourth quarter and led by as many as 19 with 4:55 to play, but UNTD did not quit and found a way to make things interesting in the final minutes. The Trailblazers used a 10-1 run to trim their deficit to 10, but the Drovers were able to withstand the rally and cling to victory. 

 

Both offenses struggled mightily in the midweek showdown. USAO's offense closed the game shooting 21-53 (.396) from the field, 4-20 (.200) from beyond the arc, and 16-19 (.842) from the free-throw line. In comparison, UNT Dallas shot 19-62 (.306) from the field, 3-19 (.158) from deep, and 11-23 (.478) from the charity stripe. 

The Drovers scored 24 points in the paint and hauled in 50 rebounds. In comparison, the Trailblazers scored 20 points in the paint and grabbed only 34 rebounds. 

USAO committed 27 turnovers, which led to 13 points for UNT Dallas. Meanwhile, the Trailblazers fumbled the ball 19 times, resulting in 16 points for the Drovers.

USAO was whistled for 22 fouls, while UNTD was called for 17 violations.

 

Evangelia Davlakou led the way for USAO, tallying a season-high of 22 points on 8-16 shooting from the field, and went a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line. She also hauled in five rebounds and dished out four assists.

Anna Kassim provided a spark off the bench for USAO, as she concluded with nine points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 16 minutes of action. 

Madison Hays was a force to be reconned with in the paint, tallying six points and 10 rebounds. Devynn Harris also scored six points in the win.

Hannah Harris concluded with five points and two assists, while Alexia Corrales added four points, five rebounds, and a pair of assists.

Franka Kraus, Jasmine Villarreal, Davielis Berroa, and Ashley Gonzalez each scored two points. Madison Crandall and Caroliena Diaz each tallied one point.

The Drovers will return to action on Sunday, November 30 as they travel to Bartlesville, Okla. for a non-conference matchup against Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM CT inside Mueller Sports Center.
