Balanced Team Effort Leads to 62-Point Victory Against ABU

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (2-0, 0-0 SAC) stayed red hot with a dominant 103-41 triumph against Arlington Baptist University (0-2, 0-0 NCCAA). 

 

The Drovers were on fire to start the game, jumping out to a 13-3 advantage midway through the first quarter. ABU used a 14-10 run to trim USAO's lead to 23-17 at the end of the first. 

The Drovers dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Patriots 25-8 and held a 48-25 lead going into halftime. 

 

Following the break, the Drovers remained in full control and consistently added to their lead, outscoring the Patriots 25-13 in the third quarter. USAO took a 73-38 lead into the final 10 minutes of play. 

The Drovers emphatically closed out the Homecoming victory, outscoring the Patriots 30-3 in the fourth quarter. 

 

USAO's offense was tremendous and closed the game shooting 38-61 (.623) from the field, 6-11 (.545) from beyond the arc, and 21-23 (.913) from the free-throw line. In comparison, Arlington Baptist shot 13-53 (.245) from the field, 4-28 (.143) from deep, and 11-22 (.500) from the charity stripe. 

The Drovers dominated the paint, outrebounding the Patriots 54-15, and outscoring ABU 54-18 in the painted area.

USAO committed 16 turnovers, which led to six points for ABU. Meanwhile, the Patriots fumbled the ball 19 times, resulting in 32 points for the Drovers.

USAO was whistled for 19 fouls, while ABU was called for 18 violations.

 

The victory was a true team effort, with all 11 players scoring at least four points, and they dished out 27 assists as a team.

Franka Kraus led the way with a perfect offensive performance, going 6-6 from the field, 3-3 from three-point range, and 6-6 from the free-throw line, concluding with 21 points. Kraus also grabbed five rebounds. 

Madison Hays and Ashley Gonzalez each delivered 13 points off the bench. Hays added five rebounds and five assists, while Gonzalez tallied four rebounds and five assists.

Jasmine Villarreal contributed 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Devynn Harris and Madison Crandall each scored nine points in the win. Harris added four rebounds and four assists, while Crandall grabbed one rebound and dished out three assists. 

Caroliena Diaz scored seven points, grabbed six rebounds, and blocked three shots. Alexia Corrales also scored seven points, along with three rebounds and a pair of assists.

Hannah Harris and Anna Kassim each scored five points. Harris grabbed eight rebounds and Kassim hauled in seven boards. 

Davielis Berroa scored four points, in addition to two rebounds and two assists.

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will play their first road-game on Tuesday, November 5 as they travel to Bethany College. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM CT in Lindsborg, Kan.
