Nichols, Johnson, and Meyer Set New PR’s at Owen Hewitt Invite
NORMAN, Okla. – On Friday, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma opened the 2026 indoor track and field season at the Owen Hewitt Invite, hosted by the University of Oklahoma. The day was highlighted by a trio of new personal records for Alayna Nichols, Omario Johnson, and Andries Meyer.
On the women's side, Kyli Reser finished in sixth-place for the weight throw (open), with a toss of 12.08 meters.
Alayna Nichols set a new PR with a 10.39 meter throw to earn 11th place in the shot put event. Reser finished in 18th (9.35m), trailed by Laura Barrios Bardi in 23rd (8.07m).
Tanyaradswa Mutara produced a leap of 4.29 meters to earn 17th in long jimp, while Melany Bermudez finished 17th in the 800-meter race.
Cloey Prachyl placed in 25th in the 60-meter dash (9.08).
The men's team was highlighted by Andries Meyer and Aarin Simon as they each produced a pair of top-six performances. Meyer set a new personal-best with a 4:37.31 run in the mile, good for fifth-place, along with a sixth-place result in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:03.92.
Simon earned bronze in the 200-meter open with a time of 23.18, and he placed in sixth in the 60-meter open with an impressive time of 7.05.
Daylen Huff placed in sixth in the 200-meter invite with a time of 23.59, and Easton Doctorman placed sixth in the 200-meter open (23.46). Doctorman also produced a 12th place finish in the 60-meter open (7.28).
Omario Johnson set a new person record with a time of 6.96 in the 60-meter open.
Mason Potter concluded in eighth place in the men's shot put open with a throw of 12.18 meters. Chayce Papp placed in 13th with a throw of 11.07 meters.
