Bio
Niall Crick took over as the women’s soccer head coach for the 2023 season and beyond, after Jimmy Hampton created and led the program for the last 25 seasons. Hampton will remain as the men’s soccer coach.
Crick has been a member of the soccer coaching staff since 2012, and he became a member of the USAO Athletic Hall of Fame in January of 2019, celebrating his historic playing career as a Drover. As an assistant coach, he has helped lead the women’s soccer team to six NAIA national tournament appearances and eight Sooner Athletic Conference championships.
USAO Athletic Director Mike Ross had this to say about Crick’s promotion,” I am extremely excited to have Niall take over as the women's soccer head coach. Over the last two years I have been able to watch him work as the assistant, and I could not have been more impressed. With that being said, there was no doubt that he is the right person for the job.”
Niall is originally from Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. He came to USAO in 2008 on a soccer scholarship and was a four-year soccer player for the Drover men. Additionally, he was a member of three teams that made the National Tournament. He was a two-time NAIA All-American and won numerous other awards as a player, prior to graduating in April 2012, with a Bachelor’s in Communications.
Crick is only the second head coach in program history, after Jimmy Hampton led the program for 25 sensational seasons. When asked about Crick’s promotion, Coach Hampton replied,” Congrats to Drover women’s soccer on such a tremendous hire with Coach Crick. The university is retaining such a fantastic person and tremendous young, talented soccer coach.”
Hampton continued “I am certain Coach Crick will take this program to even greater heights and I look forward to continuing to support him, along with this program. From All-American player to USAO head coach, what a start to his own story!”
