USAO’s Postseason Run Comes to an End in the NAIA Second Round

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the No. 9 seeded University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (13-4-5, 6-0-3 SAC) had their season brough to an end with a 3-0 loss in the NAIA National Championship Second Round against MidAmerica Nazarene University (14-3-3, 10-1-2 HAAC). 

The appearance in the NAIA National Tournament is the ninth in program history, and it's their seventh appearance in the last eight seasons. 

 

On Saturday, the Pioneers quickly jumped out to a two-goal lead with strikes in the 10th and 14th minutes of the first half. MNU added another insurance goal in the 21st minute and took a comfortable 3-0 advantage into the break. 

Following halftime, the Drovers continued to apply pressure on the Pioneers but were unable to cut into the deficit.

 

As a team, USAO attempted a total of 22 shots, with eight being on goal, while MidAmerica Nazarene attempted 12 shots, seven of which were on frame. The Drovers were whistled for three fouls, and the Pioneers were flagged for four infractions. MNU had two corner-kicks, in comparison to USAO's eight attempts out of the offensive corners.
