#21 USAO’s Season Comes to an End in the Second Round of the NAIA National Championship

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Saturday afternoon, the No. 21 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (18-3-1, 8-1 SAC) had their season come to a close with a 2-0 loss in the NAIA National Championship at No. 8 Columbia College (18-1-1, 7-0 AMC). 

 

On Saturday, Columbia claimed the first lead, scoring in the 23rd minute, prior to scoring their second goal in the 39th minute. Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the contest.

 

As a team, USAO attempted five shots, with two being on goal, while Columbia College attempted 17 shots, seven of which were on target. The Cougars were whistled for six fouls, while the Drovers committed four infractions. USAO attempted zero corner kicks and CC had eight attempts out of the offensive corners. 

 

Ashlyn Lonberg got the start between the pipes for USAO and stopped five of the seven shots she faced, suffering just her third loss of the season. Lonberg now owns an incredible career win-loss record to 26-4-1.
