Brewer Takes the Reigns of the USAO Women’s and Men’s Golf Programs

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Thursday morning, the University of Science and Arts Oklahoma announced the hiring of Jaxen Brewer as the head coach of the women's and men's golf teams. Brewer is fresh off an incredible playing career at USAO, having earned numerous prestigious achievements.

Both programs, women's and men's, are coming off their best seasons ever, with the men finishing seventh at the NAIA National Championship and the women concluded in fourth at the SAC Championship.

"I'm incredibly grateful and blessed for the opportunity to lead these two programs. I'd like to thank Mike Ross, Coach Steve Holden, and Coach Luke Burns for believing in me and entrusting me with something that already means so much to me. I'm excited to invest in our student-athletes, build on the foundation that's already in place, and continue competing at a high level. I can't wait to get to work!"

In 2025-26, the women's golf program received votes in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Rating for the first time, and they were recognized with numerous awards, including Steve Holden being selected as the SAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year, Amy Reavis as the SAC Freshman of the Year, and Hudson Woloss claimed a SAC All-Conference selection. Miah Luong was recognized as the SAC Golfer of the Week early in the season as well.

The team was also exceptional in the classroom, producing the highest team GPA on campus with a 3.63.

Brewer was a key piece to the men's golf team having their best season in program history in 2025-26, and they cracked in the top 10 of the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll for the first time in program history. Additionally, they made their first appearance at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship. The Drovers climbed to No. 8 in the final coaches' poll of the season, and they completed in seventh place the national championship.

While at the national championship, the Drovers held the team-lead after 18 holes, and Jaxen Brewer was atop of the leaderboard (-2).

The Drovers also delivered a runner-up finish at the SAC Championship, which is the best finish in program history at the event. The Sooner Athletic Conference is widely regarded as one of the best golf conferences in the NAIA, featuring four teams that were ranked in the top 25 and qualified for the NAIA National Championship.

The USAO men's golf team was also stellar in the classroom, producing the departments highest team GPA for a men's team (3.40).

During the 2025-26 season, Jaxen Brewer helped lead the Drovers to top three finishes in seven of their ten tournaments this season. Out of those ten tournaments, Brewer placed in the top ten on eight occasions as an individual. For his efforts, he was selected as the Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Year, a NAIA All-American, and earned an All-SAC nod.

On Aug. 26, 2025, he claimed his second career victory at the UC Ferguson Invitational and was awarded as the SAC Golfer of the Week following the win. His first career win came in September of 2023, when he claimed gold at the Crestview Invitational.

Brewer finished the 2025-26 season as the No. 18 ranked men's golfer in the NAIA on Scoreboard.com, with a scoring average of 70.7.

He obtained his bachelors in business from USAO, prior to earning a master's degree in Kinesiology from Harding University.
