Drovers Place Fourth in New Mexico
HOBBS, N.M. – On Monday and Tuesday, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma women's golf team competed the Battling in the Desert, hosted by University of the Southwest. The Drovers finished in fourth place as a team, highlighted by another top 10 individual finish for Miah Luong.
The tournament featured a pair of top 10 opponents, and the Drovers kept things competitive against No. 5 Texas Wesleyan and No. 10 Oklahoma City.
Battling in the Desert was competed at Rockwind Community Links in Hobbs, New Mexico and featured a 6,015-yard, par 72 layout. The Drovers completed with a three-round score of 938 (306, 311, 321).
Miah Luong continued the sensational start to her collegiate career with a 10th place finish, firing a three-round total of 228 (73, 76, 79). In her first three collegiate tournaments, the freshman has earned two runner-up finishes, as well as a top 10 finish this week.
Amy Reavis, another standout freshman, concluded in 17th place after carding a 235 (77, 81, 77). Hudson Woloss also cracked the top 20, placing in 19th with a 236 (79, 77, 80). Alix Schueneman followed closely behind in 23rd with a 240 (77, 78, 85).
Moriah Shropshire and Addesen Glass concluded in a tie for 34th with identical scores of 252. Katelynn Powell finished in 49th as she carded a 279.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Drovers will return to action on October 13-14 as they host the Battle at Winter Creek at Winter Creek Golf and Social Club in Blanchard, Okla. It is the fifth time that USAO has hosted the event and they have found tremendous success, winning one team championship and two individual championships.
