Drovers Dominate Nelson University as Harris Records a Double-Double
CHICKASHA, Okla. – Monday evening, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (9-6, 7-4 SAC) earned a dominant 73-58 victory against Nelson University (4-10, 3-8 SAC). With the win, the Drovers have won each of the last 10 matchups against the Lions.
The Drovers led from start to finish in the lopsided contest, with USAO leading by as many as 27 points. USAO got off to a hot start, outscoring Nelson 17-6 in the first quarter. The Drovers then outscored the Lions 23-12 in the second quarter and took a 40-18 advantage going into halftime.
USAO was very efficient offensively in the first half, shooting 15-29 (.517) from the field and 3-7 (.429) from three-point range, while holding Nelson to only 5-28 (.179) from the field and 1-14 (.071) from deep.
Following the break, the Lions tried to claw their way back into the game. Both teams scored 17 points in the third quarter and the Drovers took a 57-35 lead into the final 10 minutes of action. Nelson made things a little interesting in the fourth quarter, outscoring USAO 23-16, but it was too little, too late for the visitors, giving the Drovers the regular season sweep against the Lions.
USAO's offense closed the game shooting 26-56 (.464) from the field, 5-16 (.313) from beyond the arc, and 16-20 (.800) from the free-throw line. In comparison, Nelson University shot 19-65 (.292) from the field, 8-38 (.211) from deep, and 12-15 (.800) from the charity stripe.
The Drovers scored 36 points in the paint and hauled in 45 rebounds. In comparison, the Lions scored 16 points in the paint and grabbed 36 rebounds.
USAO committed 12 turnovers, which led to 12 points for NU. Meanwhile, the Lions fumbled the ball 10 times, resulting in 13 points for the Drovers.
USAO was whistled for 17 fouls, while Nelson was called for 18 violations.
Three different Drovers scored in double figures, led by Hannah Harris' terrific performance. Harris recorded her first double-double of the season, tallying 15 points and 13 rebounds. Franka Kraus added 13 points, followed by Ashley Gonzalez with 12 points.
Evangelia Davlakou concluded with nine points, three rebounds, and seven assists.
Alexia Corrales provided seven points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Devynn Harris added seven points, three rebounds, and two assists.
Caroliena Diaz closed with six points and five rebounds. Jasmine Villarreal, and Davielis Berroa each scored two points in the win.

The Drovers will return to Brisco McPherson Court on Thursday, January 9 as they host a double-header against Central Christian College. The women's game is scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 PM CT, followed by the men's game at 7:45 PM CT inside Drover Fieldhouse.
