USAO Shines at Tabor College Invitational

HILLSBORO, Kan. – The USAO men's and women's track and field team continued to shine with their performances at the Tabor College Invitational Saturday, April 20.

For the women, Conangela Senior clinched third place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.31, less than half a second behind second place. In the 800-meter run, Roshae Burrell took second place with a time of two minutes and 22.79 seconds while Sharon Jebet placed eleventh running a time of 2:34.90, both improving their personal records. Arlette Melendez threw shotput for the Drovers, launching for a distance of 8.03 meters to finished 22nd.

For the men's track portion, Aljani Bridgewater and Shevon Blair took on the 400-meter hurdles to finish first and fourth, less than two seconds apart. Bridgewater topped the ranking with his time of 53.16 seconds, while Blair finished his lap in 54.76 seconds. Bridgewater's superb performance qualified him for a trip to the outdoor track and field national championship, the first-ever men's qualification in USAO history. With their Top-5 performances, Bridgewater and Blair will both rank nationally in the 400-meter hurdles, 5thand 17threspectively.

In the 800-meter run, the Drovers cracked the Top-20 with Mike Muhuhu and Justin Norman. Muhuhu took tenth place finishing in 2:05.08 while Norman took 18thfinishing in two minutes and 7.37 seconds.

Tucker Mora continued with his Top-10 performances in the high-jump, finishing sixth with a height of 1.87 meters. Lastly, after achieving the first-ever first-place finish in the 400-meter relay this season, the dream team dominated again. Bridgewater, Blair, Muhuhu, and Mora clinched another first place, running the relay in three minutes and 19.14 seconds.

Another personal record was thrown in the men's shotput event as Isaiah Hernandez launched a distance of 12.53 meters to wrap up the meet for USAO.

The Drovers will be back in action Friday, May 3, when they travel to Wichita, Kans., for the Shocker Open hosted by Wichita State University.
