Golden Eagles Score Pair of Second Half Goals to Drop Drovers in SAC Opener
CHICKASHA, Okla. – Tuesday night, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (4-4-2, 0-1 SAC) opened conference play with a tough 3-1 loss against John Brown University (4-4, 1-0 SAC).
Despite controlling the ball for majority of the opening 15 minutes, JBU was able to shock the crowd with an acrobatic goal in the 16th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Golden Eagles remained in the lead until the Drovers evened the score with Harry Yorke's first goal of the season, assisted by Leonardo Scheider in the 40th minute. The score remained knotted for the remainder of the first half.
Following the break, the match remained tied until the 62nd minute when JBU was able to capitalize on a penalty-kick and take a 2-1 lead. The Drovers continued to threaten but were unable to strike for the equalizer, and the Golden Eagles put the game away with a dagger in the 85th minute to take a 3-1 advantage.
USAO controlled possession of the ball for majority of the contest and outshot JBU, but they unable to claim the victory. As a team, USAO attempted 18 shots, with eight being on goal, while John Brown attempted 10 shots, with six being on target. In the physical contest, both teams were issued a trio of yellow cards, and USAO committed 19 fouls, while JBU was whistled for 11.

The Drovers will be back in action for a huge matchup at No. 1 ranked Mid-America Christian University on Saturday, September 30. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM CT in Oklahoma City.
