#7 MNU Outlasts USAO in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Wednesday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (4-2-2, 0-0 SAC) had their six-game unbeaten streak brought to a close with a 4-2 loss against No. 7 ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University (4-0-2, 0-0 HAAC).

 The Drovers performed very well early on and controlled possession of the ball for majority of the opening 20 minutes, but MNU was able to strike first with a rebound goal in the 25^th minute.

However, MNU's lead was short lived as the Drovers responded with the equalizer in the 30^th minute, scored on a lovely shot by Jin Ogawa, assisted by Justin Croke.

Following the break, the Pioneers quickly regained the lead with a goal only 30 seconds into the second half. The Drovers once again quickly responded to tie the game on Angelo Leendertse's penalty-kick goal, less than two minutes later.

With 21 minutes remaining in the contest, MNU was able to claim the lead once more on a penalty-kick goal. MNU stretched their lead to 4-2 with another penalty-kick goal in the 76^th minute.

Despite their best efforts, USAO was unable to find the back of the net for the remainder of the contest.

As a team, USAO attempted 15 shots, with eight being on goal, while MNU attempted 16 shots, with 10 being on target. The Drovers committed 17 fouls and the Pioneers were whistled 10 times. 

Angel Diaz got the start for the Drovers between the pipes and he stopped six of the 10 shots that he faced.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will return to action on Friday, September 22 when they head to Nebraska to face Bellevue University. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 PM CT at Papillion Landing in Bellevue, Neb.
