#17 USAO Opens the Spring with Third Place Finish at Texas Invitational
PROSPER, Texas – Monday and Tuesday, the No. 17 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma men's golf team opened the spring portion of their season with a third-place finish at the Texas Invitational, hosted by Friends University. Five different Drovers placed in the top 20 as individuals, which was the most out of all the teams competing.
The Texas Invitational was competed at Gentle Creek GC in Prosper, Texas, and featured a 7,317-yard, par 72 layout. The Drovers completed with a three-round score of 880 (288, 283, 308). The tournament strong field of opponents, including No. 4 ranks Oklahoma City, No. 5 Friends, No. 11 Missouri Valley, No. 17 USAO, No. 20 Wayland Baptist, and RV Grand View.
Conner Cryer led the way for USAO, concluding in fifth place as he fired three consecutive scores of 72, for a three-round total of 216. Jaxen Brewer followed close behind in a tie for seventh after shooting a 219 (72, 70, 77).
Luca Gisler finished just outside the top 10 as he closed in a tie for 12th with a score of 222 (71, 72, 79). Jaeden Ellis placed in a tie for 14th after shooting a 223 (74, 69, 80). Gavin Elmore tied for 20th after carding a 225 (76, 71, 78).
Cooper Hardison placed in 23rd with a 229 (74, 74, 81), trailed by Parker Pogue in a tie for 40th with a 233 (84, 72, 77). Carson Click scored a 242 (79, 85, 78) and finished in a tie for 54th.
Following the tournament, the Drovers now have three players that are ranked in the Scoreboard player rankings. Jaxen Brewer ranks No. 26, trailed by Conner Cryer at No. 42, and Jaeden Ellis at No. 102.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Drovers will now head into their winter break, before resuming the season in the spring.
