Cryer and Brewer Place in Top 10 at Mid-South Invitational
NEWTON, Kan. – On Tuesday and Wednesday, the No. 23 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma men's golf team earned a fourth-place finish at the Mid-South Invitational, hosted by Grand View University. The Drovers finished just 12-shots back of the winner No. 5 ranked MidAmerica Nazarene.
The Mid-South Invitational was competed at Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kan., and featured a 6,872-yard, par 72 layout. The Drovers completed with a three-round score of 874 (294, 290, 290). The tournament featured a strong field of opponents, including five teams ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll (No. 5 MidAmerica Nazarene, No. 6 Wayland Baptist (Texas), No. 10 Friends (Kan.), No. 23 USAO, RV Hastings (Neb.)).
USAO was highlighted by a pair of top 10 performances from Conner Cryer and Jax Brewer. Cryer went even-par and concluded in seventh place with a score of 216 (72, 73, 71). Brewer closed in eighth as he carded a 217 (74, 72, 71).
Jaeden Ellis and Luca Gisler finished in a tie for 26th with identical scores of 221. Ellis shot a 72 and a 73 on Monday, followed by a 76 in the final round. Gisler shot scores of 73 and 75 on day one, prior to a 73 on Tuesday.
Parker Pogue finished in 36th (75, 78, 71), trailed by Cooper Hardison in 39th (76, 75, 74). Gavin Elmore concluded in 46th with a 226 (80, 72, 74), and Carson Click fired a 244 (83, 84, 77).
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Drovers will return to the course on Sept. 15-16 as they compete at the NWIT College Amateur. The tournament will be hosted at Willow Creek in Lemars, Iowa.
