Drovers Finish Strong at Texas Invitational
PROSPER, Texas – On Monday and Tuesday, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma men's golf team opened the spring portion of their season at the Texas Invitational, hosted by Friends University. Following a rough first round, the Drovers began to turn things around and climbed to a seventh-place finish as a team.
The course at Gentle Creek Country Club was a challenging 7229-yard, par 72 layout. The Drovers completed with a three-round score of 917 (312, 307, 298). The tournament featured a star-studded field, and featured six teams ranked in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll (No. 4 Oklahoma City, No. 7 Friends, No. 9 Wayland Baptist, No. 16 Mount Mercy, No. 23 Kansas Wesleyan, and RV USAO).
The Drovers were led by Jaeden Ellis' 13th place finish, firing a three-round total of 223 (77, 75, 71). Cooper Hardison followed in 17th place, with a total of 225 (77, 75, 73), while Conner Cryer finished in 21st with a score of 226 (77, 75, 74).
Tucker McDonald closed in 25th as he carded a 228 (76, 80, 72). Parker Pogue and Luca Gisler finished back-to-back in 52nd and 53rd. Pogue fired a 243 (81, 82, 80), while Gisler carded a 244 (81, 82, 81).
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Drovers will return to competition on March 17-18 at the Kyle Blaser Invitational. The tournament will be hosted by Oklahoma City University at Gaillardia Country Club in OKC.
