Cryer Leads Drovers with Second Place Finish at Texas Intercollegiate
WILLOW PARK, Texas – On Monday and Tuesday, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma men's golf team earned a third-place finish at the Texas Intercollegiate, led by a runner-up performance from Conner Cryer.
The tournament was hosted by Texas Wesleyan University at Squaw Creek Golf Course in Willow Park, Texas and the Drovers completed with a three-round score of 869 (291, 295, 283). The course featured a 6958-yard, par 71 layout. The tournament featured a loaded field, with four teams ranked votes in the latest NAIA Men's Golf Coaches' Top 25 poll (#4 Texas Wesleyan, #8 Oklahoma City, #17 Houston-Victoria, #25 Southwestern Christian). The only two teams to fair better than the Drovers were Texas Wesleyan and Houston-Victoria.
Conner Cryer continued his hot-streak with a second-place finish as an individual, carding a three-round total of 212 (71, 72, 69). Cryer concluded just one stroke shy of his third win of the season.
A trio of Drovers finished in a tie for 17th with scores of 220. Jax Brewer opened with a 76, followed by scored of 74 and 70 in the final two rounds. Caleb Smith got off to a terrific start with a 70 in the first round, followed by a 78 and a 72. Cooper Hardison opened with a pair of 74's in the first two rounds, and wrapped up with a 71 in the third.
Jaeden Ellis finished in 36th with a three-round total of 227 (78, 75, 74).
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Drovers will return to the course on April 29-30 for the SAC Championship at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.
