Cryer and the Drovers Claim Championships for Second Week in a Row

CABOT, Ark. – On Monday and Tuesday, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma men's golf team continued to stack up the hardware with their second consecutive team championship at the CBC Invitational in Arkansas. Conner Cryer also claimed his second consecutive individual championship and became the third player in program history to have won multiple tournaments in his career.

 

The team championship is the sixth team championship in program history and Cryer claimed the ninth individual title in program history.

 

As a team, USAO has finished as either the champion or runner-up in five of their last six tournaments played. In that span, they have produced three individual championships as well. 

 

This week's tournament was competed at Cypress Creek Golf Club in Cabot, Ark., and the Drovers completed with a three-round score of 890 (298, 295, 297). The course featured a 7300-yard, par 72 layout. The Drovers dominated the 11-team field, scoring 14-strokes better than the second-place team (CBC). Furthermore, the squad was very accurate and consistent, only carding one round over 80.

 

Conner Cryer claimed his second consecutive championship with a three-round score of 216, after scoring a 76 in the first round, followed by back-to-back rounds under par to close out the victory (71, 69).

Caleb Smith and Luca Gisler finished in a tie for fifth with scores of 222. Smith fired rounds of 73, 75, and 74, while Gisler carded 75, 71, 76.

Jaeden Ellis concluded in a tie for seventh, closing with a score of 223 (73, 73, 77).

Cooper Hardison finished in a tie for 10th with a total of 225 (77, 74, 74), closely followed by Tucker McDonald in 14th with a 226 (76, 76, 77).

Jaxen Brewer contributed a 229 (76, 76, 77) and finished in 17th, while Tate Trotter shot a 234 (78, 79, 77).

Luke O'Dell finished in 31st with a total of 238 (81, 79, 78).

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will go for their third consecutive championship as they compete at the Midwest Spring National Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas. The tournament will be competed at Colbert Hills Golf Course, and hosted by Kansas Wesleyan University.
