Drovers Claim Second Battle at Winter Creek Championship
BLANCHARD, Okla. - Monday and Tuesday, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma men's golf team hosted the Battle at Winter Creek, and the Drovers won the tournament for second time in their last three attempts. USAO has previously hosted the tournament in 2020 and 2022, with the Drovers winning it on the first try, followed by a runner-up finish last year. Former Drovers Gage Gibson won the individual crown in 2020, and Grant Murphey won the tournament in 2022.
Furthermore, the event marked the first time that the Drovers have had an "A" and a "B" team compete at the same tournament. The "A" team won the tournament, while the "B" team finished in fourth.
The course at Winter Creek Golf and Country Club was a scenic and challenging 7060-yard, par 72 layout. The Drovers "A" team completed with a three-round score of 908 (305, 301, 302), while the "B" team carded a 945 (308, 312, 325).
Four different Drovers placed in the top 10 as individuals, led by Conner Cryer's runner-up finish, after scoring a 222 (75, 76, 71). Cryer finished only three shots back of the individual winner.
Tate Trotter also performed at a high level and finished in a tie for third after carding a 228 (73, 78, 77), followed by Cooper Hardison in fifth with a 230 (74, 79, 77). Jaeden Ellis closed in a tie for sixth with a score of 232 (76, 81, 75) and Caleb Smith rounded out the top 10 with a 233 (80, 71, 82).
Jaxen Brewer and Luke O'Dell closed in a tie for 11th with identical scores of 234. Luca Gisler finished in a tie for 15th and Tucker McDonald closed in a tie for 21st.

The Drovers will be back in action on October 16-17 as they compete at The Hrnciar, hosted by Cameron University at the Territory Golf Club in Duncan, Okla.
