SCU Forfeits Finale and USAO Sweeps the Series

BETHANY, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (7-8, 4-2 SAC) wrapped up the three-game sweep with a 1-0 forfeit-victory on the road at Southwestern Christian University (12-8, 1-5 SAC).

On Friday, the Drovers opened the series with a dominant 18-0 victory, followed by a 12-2 triumph in the second game of the day. With the sweep, the Drovers improve to 37-5 against the Eagles in head-to-head matchups since April 2014.

After a pair of scoreless innings, the Drovers claimed the lead with Henry Garcia's RBI-single in the top of the third.

SCU pulled the score even with one run in the bottom of the fourth. However, USAO quickly regained the lead with a four-run rally in the top of the fifth inning to take a 5-1 advantage.

In the bottom of the fifth, a SCU player grounded out to second base, and proceeded to get into a confrontation with USAO pitcher, Tyson Noel. The Eagles bench had numerous players ejected and were unable to finish the game due to a lack of eligible players remaining.

As a team, the Drovers offense produced six hits and reached on six walks, while the Eagles tallied five hits and drew zero walks. Both teams were committed one fielding error.

Tyson Noel got the start on the mound for USAO and went all 4.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits and he struck out three batters.

USAO offense was led by Henry Garcia and Conner Martin's two hit performances. Garcia finished 2-3 with a double, a triple, a run scored, and a run batted in. Martin concluded 2-3 with two doubles, a walk, and a run scored.

Solomon Harwood went 1-2 with a walk, a run scored, and a run batted in, while Duncan Key went 1-1 with a run scored and a run batted in.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will now hit the road and face Ottawa University on Tuesday, March 3. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM CT in Ottawa, Kan.
