Drovers Thump the Bobcats in Series Finale
CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (4-8, 1-2 SAC) closed out the three-game series with a 12-2 run-rule victory against College of the Ozarks (10-5, 2-1 SAC). The Drovers dropped Friday's double header by scores of 10-6 and 5-3.
After holding the Bobcats scoreless in the top of the first inning, the Drovers rallied for four runs in the bottom of the first.
College of the Ozarks cut their deficit in half with a pair of runs in the top of the third, but USAO immediately answered with a trio of runs to take a 7-2 lead into the fourth.
The Drovers stretched the lead to 8-2 with a run in the sixth, prior to rallying for the final four runs in the bottom of the eighth.
As a team, the Drovers offense produced 11 hits and reached on 10 walks, while the Bobcats tallied six hits and drew two walks. Ozarks committed one fielding error, while USAO was perfect on defense.
Tyson Noel made the start on the mound for USAO and delivered 6.0 stellar innings of work, surrendering only two runs on five hits, and he struck out three batters to earn his first win of the season.
Layton Bryan contributed 2.0 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, allowing only one hit and struck out a pair of batters.
USAO offense was led by a trio of multi-hit performances from Anthony Hampton, Alfonso Camacho, and Gabe Clyden. Hampton closed the game 3-5 with a run scored and three runs batted in. Camacho finished 2-3 with a double, two walks, and three runs scored, while Clyden went 2-3 with a walk and two runs batted in, along with numerous outstanding plays on defense.
Corey Morro went 1-3 with a double, two walks, and a pair of runs scored. Connor Martin finished 1-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a run batted in out of the leadoff spot.
Brandon Latter singled and drove in a pair of runs, while Dawson Robbins singled, and drove in one run.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Drovers will now hit the road for a three-game series at Southwestern Christian University on Feb. 27-28 in Bethany, Okla. Friday's double header is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM CT, followed by Saturday's series finale at 12:00 PM CT.
