McDowall Becomes 17th All-American in Program History
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On Tuesday afternoon, the NAIA announced their individual postseason honors, and Peyton McDowall became the 17th All-American in program history. After earning a first-team All-Sooner Athletic Conference selection and a SAC Gold Glove award for his tremendous play during the regular season, he has now been selected as an honorable mention All-American by the NAIA. His sensational play helped the Drovers appear in the NAIA Baseball National Championship tournament for the ninth time in program history, and they finished as the runner-up in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.
McDowall earned his second consecutive All-SAC selection after putting together one of the best seasons in program history. The first baseman recorded a ridiculous .399 batting average with 75 hits, 17, doubles, three triples, 15 homeruns, 60 runs scored, and 75 runs batted in. He reached base in .454 percent of his at bats and he produced a whopping .761 slugging percentage. Beyond being a tremendous offensive threat, McDowall is also one of the best defensive first basemen in the country and owned a nearly perfect .997 fielding percentage.
In his career at USAO, McDowall has appeared in 104 games and recorded an incredible batting average of .405, with 150 hits, 36 doubles, five triples, 27 homeruns, 119 runs scored, and 125 runs batted in.
